Dr. Haines is a remarkable individual with an inspiring life story. Born in Malaysia, he is the son of Methodist missionaries and grew up in a diverse and culturally rich environment.

He obtained his medical degree from the Medical University of South Carolina. As one of the top graduates he was elected to Alpha Omega Alpha. His residency in ophthalmology was from the prestigious Moran Eye at the University of Utah, where he honed his skills and knowledge to become an accomplished board certified ophthalmologist.

One of the notable contributions that Dr Haines has made to the medical field is his extensive publications of peer reviewed medical articles. These publications not only highlight his expertise in a wide range of medical topics, but they also showcase his commitment to advancing the field and improving patient care.

Bedside Manner
Dr Haines authenticity enables patients to have a deep bond of trust in him. Whether it is his easy-going demeanor, personable interaction style, or deeply engaging nature, Dr Haines makes patients feel as though he's known them for years (and for so many of them he has). In fact, he's just as comfortable having his patients and colleagues call him by his first name than Dr Haines.

Philanthropy
In addition to his academic achievements, Dr. Haines' passion for helping others shines through his humanitarian work. He has conducted over 30 sight-restoring "Eye Camps" across five continents, positively impacting the lives of thousands of individuals. During these missions, he also teaches local ophthalmologists the latest techniques in eye care to better serve their citizens. In 2011, Dr Haines and his wife, Joy, set up the Give Me Sight Foundation to generate additional funding and support from the community to provide for even more cataract removal surgeries.

During 2016's mission to Myanmar, Dr. Haines and his team were followed by a documentary crew in order to get detailed insight into the impact that Dr.Haines' philanthropic work has on local communities and the lives of individuals. The film was duly named GIVE ME SIGHT. It turned out to be such a high quality work that it won Best Documentary Feature by the Oregon International Film Awards and Honorable Mention by the International Independent Film Awards.

Dr Haines dedication to his medical profession and his unwavering commitment to making a difference in people's lives worldwide make him a true inspiration. His work exemplifies the positive impact that can be achieved through compassion, knowledge and innovation in the field of ophthalmology.
