John D. Polansky, M.D.

Dr. Polansky has been in the practice of ophthalmology in Eugene for the past 47 years. He trained at two of the most highly rated ophthalmology programs in America. He did a Fellowship in Ophthalmic Pathology at the Jules Stein Eye Institute at UCLA. His medical and surgical training in ophthalmology was at Wills Eye Hospital in Philadelphia. He is Board Certified in Ophthalmology.

He has been an active participant in the Oregon Academy of Ophthalmology for all 47 years of practice. He served on the executive committee for several years and as President of the organization. Following his presidency he remained on the Academy Board for decades. He is a senior member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology and has served on its Ethics Committee. He has been a member of ASCRS (the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery) for many years and has served on its Comprehensive Care Committee.

Bedside Manner
Dr. Polansky comes from a family medical background. His father was an internist and his mother a dentist. His greatest pleasure is taking good personal care of his patients. He is concerned about his patient's overall health as well as their eyes. His caring nature has endeared him to his patients some of whom have been with him for his entire career.

Outreach
Dr. Polansky has participated in international education programs bringing advances in ophthalmic surgery to underserved areas and providing needed medical supplies to third world areas.

Personal
He is married to his wife, Leslie, for 47 years. They have two children and four grandchildren all residents of Eugene. He is a long time member of Eugene Faith Center.
